Kiet Le, PA-CResearch Foundation Manager

Kiet Le is the Physician Assistant to Dr. Andrew Jawa as well as the BSSC Research Foundation Manager. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine at Quinnipiac University and a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Albany Medical College. Prior to joining Boston Sports & Shoulder Center, Kiet worked as an orthopaedic physician assistant at Newton-Wellesley Sports Medicine and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Kiet’s research interests include osteoarthritis and reverse shoulder arthroplasty. More specific Kiet is interested in RSA outcomes in younger patients. As the BSSC RF Manager, Kiet is responsible for managing research funding, building institutional frameworks, and designing fundraising initiatives.

Dan Swanson
Dan Swanson, BS Research Foundation Supervisor

Dan is the BSSC Research Foundation Supervisor. He graduated from Fairfield University as a pre-medical student with a BS in Mathematics. He began his career at BSSC as a medical assistant in 2020, and transitioned to be the research assistant for Dr. Andrew Jawa in 2021. As a researcher, he has worked with the ASES Complications of Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty Research Group, has 6 publications, and has presented at regional orthopedic conferences. As the BSSC RF Supervisor, Dan is responsible for streamlining research, building institutional frameworks, and supervising various research projects.

Evan Glass, BSResearch Assistant

Evan Glass is a research assistant with the BSSC RF who works closely with Dr. Jawa and Dr. Kirsch. He is a pre-medical student that graduated from Brandeis University in 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Business. Evan coordinates research studies for Dr. Jawa and Dr. Kirsch by maintaining the data registries, facilitating data curation, drafting institutional review board proposals, performing statistical analysis, and writing manuscripts.

Sophie nemec
Sophie Nemec, BS Clinical Research Coordinator

Sophie is a medical assistant and clinical research coordinator (CRC) at BSSC who works closely with Dr. McKeon and Jason Rand. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in May 2021 as an honors pre-medical student with a BS in Allied Health Sciences. Sophie is the CRC for Dr. Andrew Jawa's clinical trial about the efficacy of Zilretta use in the shoulder for end-stage arthritis. Sophie maintains Dr. Miller's database through PatientIQ and coordinates her studies involving proximal hamstring repair.

Madison Sakheim, BAResearch Assistant

Madison is a medical assistant and research assistant with the BSSC RF. She graduated from Hamilton College in 2022 as a pre-medical student with a BA in Neuroscience and a minor in Classical Languages. She works closely with the Hip Preservation Team at BSSC, led by Dr. Thomas Wuerz. Madison maintains Dr. Wuerz’s personal database through Patient IQ, coordinates his numerous studies, and runs Dr. Wuerz’s clinics.

Will Martell, BA Research Assistant

Will Martell is a research assistant and medical assistant with the BSSC RF. He graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2020 with a BA in Biology. He works primarily as the research assistant for Dr. Alan Curtis. Will’s work as the RA to Dr. Curtis includes maintaining his database on PatientIQ, data curation, tracking patient outcomes, and drafting institutional review board proposals regarding surgical technique in shoulder arthroscopy.

Nick Veale, BS, MS Research Assistant

Nick Veale is a research assistant and medical assistant with the BSSC RF. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 2021 with a BS in Biology and Georgetown University in 2022 with a MS in Physiology and Biophysics. He works primarily as the research assistant for Dr. Kurt Hofmann and Dr. Mark Slovenkai. Nick’s work as the RA to Dr. Hofmann and Dr. Slovenkai includes maintaining his database on PatientIQ, data curation, tracking patient outcomes, and drafting institutional review board proposals regarding surgical technique in total ankle replacements.

Tessa Lilley
Tessa Lilley, BS Research Assistant

Tessa Lilley is a part-time research assistant for Dr. Brian McKeon focused on the NuSurface medical meniscal implant. While the implant's clinical trial was active, she was the primary clinical research coordinator. Since study closure in 2020, she now runs retrospective outcomes-based studies surrounding the impact of the implant. Tess graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, and is currently a physician assistant student at Northeastern University.
